FWC


What's FWC mean?
It means Fish & Wildlife Commission.
What is it? It's a police force.
A police force? What for?
The FWC enforces and monitors animals
and animal laws in the state of Florida.
It's an animal police force!
This is an airboat. It's used to travel the swamps of Florida.
It's better than walking.
There are over 1,800 officers.
Also, there are 73 field offices.

The FWC was formed in 1999.

FWC also has helicopters.
They can watch from the sky.
The FWC has a lot of equipment.


Yes, they have guns too.
FWC is an armed police force.
The FWC is headquartered in Tallahassee.

This officer has caught a Burmese python.
This snake is not native to Florida.
It's a dangerous animal. It can even kill alligators.
This animal is invasive. It will be destroyed.

What are those? Those are turtle eggs.
The FWC helped move the eggs because of the oil spill.
The FWC has many responsibilities
and duties in the state of Florida.
