Florida Stuff

A
What's he doing? Do you know what it's called?
This is s.c.u.b.a. diving. The man is swimming under the water.
What does s.c.u.b.a. mean? It means...
S self
C contained
U underwater
B breathing
A apparatus
The scuba tank was invented by Jacques Cousteau.
He was from France. Jacques Cousteau was
also a very famous oceanographer. He had a big boat
and he traveled all over the world studying the oceans.

B
What kind of a fish is this? It's a lion fish.
It's beautiful, I like it.
But it's a dangerous invasive species.
What do you mean 'invasive'? Whys it dangerous?
Invasive means invader!
This fish is not native to Florida.
It causes problems by eating the other fish.
The dorsal fin of this fish has venom.
It can strike with the dorsal spine very quickly.
                     Never, ever touch this fish.

What are those? Those are the inner planets. Can you name them?
In order? Please name each planet and say something about it.

Mercury is the closest to the sun so it's always very hot.
There is no water there and it's a small planet
It's impossible to live there.
Mercury is a long way away.

Venus is the 2nd planet in the solar system.
It's also very hot. I don't want to go to Venus.
However, the Japanese spacecraft 'Ikaros' is going to Venus.
Ikaros is a prototype 'solar sail' spacecraft.

Earth is the 3rd planet. Earth is the water planet.
This is where I live. I like it here.
70% of the Earth is covered with water.

Mars is the last of the inner planets.
It's color is red. Mars had water before. Recently,
scientists found water on Mars. We can't breathe on Mars.
I want to visit Mars. But, I can't stay there.

D

What kind of bird is that?
                   That's not a bird. It's a dinosaur.
That's a dinosaur? No way! What kind of a dinosaur?
That's velociraptor. It's remains have been found
                   by paleontologists  in Florida.
I thought dinosaurs didn't have feathers.
Yes, they did have feathers. New research shows this.
