President Obama in Louisiana

President Obama tells us that the tragic Gulf of Mexico oil spill is his main focus.

The President visited the Louisiana gulf coast to see for himself the damage.

President Obama

President Obama was in the Gulf Coast area to take a look first hand at the damage.

That's a very nasty looking area there.

This picture is kind of pretty but it's deadly.

BP has had no luck trying to stop the leak.

It breaks my heart to see pictures like this

This is an aerial picture of the oil spill.

An oil soaked pelican.

Oil has washed into the marshes.

There's not many words I can use to describe these pictures.
I wish I could just post pictures of birds and other animals for you.
However, we can't ignore the disaster of this oil spill.
What's happening to my beautiful home?

The Dolphins helped me fish!

The dolphins were helping me fish.
Actually, they chase the fish away.
But I like them anyway.

The dolphins were out early this morning.

This is very sad.

Atlantis Take Off

It didn't take long for Atlantis to gain speed and altitude

Wow. What a sight! That was excellent. I was very excited.
It's much better to watch in person that to watch it on TV.
Atlantis is already in orbit.
There are only 2 more launches for the space shuttle program.
I plan to get closer for the next one.
These pictures were taken from about 30 km away.

Thursday Evening

The above picture is nice, isn't it?
That's taken in the backyard of where I live.
It was very calm and quiet as the sun rose.

Here's a current look at the oil spill.
There are two leaks.
BP will try to syphoon the oil above the leaks.

This is the goal of the operation.
The proper placement is very critical.

Friday Shuttle Launch (early Saturday morning Japan time)

See you later Have a nice day!

Oil Spill

At this time, all efforts to stop the widening oil spill have failed. The recent attempt to "syphon"
the oil failed because ice formed on the contraption effectively blocking the funnel of the syphon.
This kind of operation had never been attempted before. Regardless, BP engineers didn't count
on ice at such a depth. It's rather foolish to think ice could form in waters at 33 degrees Fahrenheit,
isn't it?
Efforts to break the spill up with chemicals are faring better. However, this is only treating
the symptoms not the disease. However, the side effects of these chemicals are not known at this time.
It's moved since this picture.
The barrier islands off the coast of Louisiana
are the first to feel the oil spills
waves of death.

Workers preparing for the oil spill

The US military is assisting in preparations for the oil spill.
Here we can see them preparing a barrier to
keep the oil from reaching the beaches.
The governor of Florida is set to call up units of Florida's
national guard to help fight the oil spill.

Oil spill in Gulf of Mexico

I can't look at these pictures without crying.
What have we done to our beautiful beaches?

Disaster

The oil spill from the accident is coming to Florida! I can't beleive it. What can we do? This is going to ruin our beautiful beaches. I'm very upset. There is nothing I can do personally. We are helpless. I pray that it doesn't hit the Everglades. This is going to be the worst disaster in American history.
Is this what Florida is going to look like? God help us, please!
